BHUTAN

Check-in at Kolkatta International Airport by 0600 hrs to board the Druk Air flight KB 501 at 0855 hrs to Paro. From a window seat on a clear day you can get a spectacular view of the Himalaya peaks as you approach Paro located at an altitude of 7364ft. On arrival at Paro at 1025 hrs, meet with our guide (who will be standing at the Exit gate with a name placard) and later visit the National museum, with all the collection of paintings (Thangka). Later, visit Rimpung Dzong (fortress) and take a leisure walk down through cantilever bridge and to Paro town. In the late afternoon drive to Thimphu and reach in approx 1 hour ( 65km). Check-in at Hotel Pedling. Dinner and overnight stay

 

Breakfast. Start the day by visiting the National Memorial Chorten (shrine),a monument dedicated to the 3rd king. Visit Traditional Painting School of Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts & crafts with stops at National Library where ancient scrolls are preserved. Then visit a textile weaving factory to get to know the national art of weaving. After lunch, take a short drive to upper Thimphu to see the national animal Takin . From here, drive past the Thimphu Dzong and go inside the Dzong . From the Dzong, drive to Craft Market to see the local Bhutanese craft and do some shopping. Dinner and overnight stay at Thimpu .

 

Breakfast.This morning drive towards Punakha through Dochula pass. At an altitude of 10142ft, this pass offers panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain ranges. As we descend along a series of curve road to the fertile valley of Punakha at an altitude of 4430 ft. Before proceeding further to Punakha town, take a short 45 minutes walk to Chimi Lakhang a temple on a small hill top, dedicated to the great Yogi in 14th century known as Drukpa Kuenly After the hike, proceed to the Phubjikha valley known for its winter population black-necked crane . The pass itself will take you over the Black Mountain range, the boundary between western & central Bhutan. Driving time 4 to 5 hrs, excluding other diversions for sight-seeing. Overnight in Hotel Yolekey, Phubjikha

 

After breakfast, visit Gangtey Gyomba situated in a hill overlooking the valley. The monastery is watched over by monk’s .visit the black neck crane center. A nature hike through lush vegetation. Your car will be waiting at the end of the nature hike. Today driving time is 3 hrs without any other diversion. Overnight at Damchen

 

Breakfast. Later, visit Punakha Dzong situated in between two rivers Pho Chu and Mo Chu (male & female river), one of Bhutan’s most magnificent Dzong. Later, drive towards Paro with a stop at Thimphu for lunch and for any last- minute shopping. Overnight at hotel Phuntsho Juney, Paro

 

After breakfast, start the day with short drive to Paro’s upper valley. On a clear day, you will have an unforgettable view of the ‘Goddess’ Mt.Chomolhari at 23,640 feet. Afterward, take a short drive to Taksang trail head. Later, hike to Taksang Monastery, the most famous monastery in Bhutan. Taksang means “Tiger Nest” so named because Guru Rinpoche reportedly flew to the site on the back of a flying tiger late in the 7th century. Between blue pines & sky, the monastery perches miraculously on a cliff nearly 2,700feet above Paro’s valley floor. Take a break along the way for tea and snacks in small tea house. Dinner and overnight stay at Paro.

 

After early breakfast, transfer to the airport to check-in for the Druk Air flight KB 500 to Kolkatta at 0720 hrs. Arrive in Kolkatta by 0800 hrs and connect to your onward flight. Tour ends
