MYANMAR

Arrive in Yangon by ??? hrs by a morning flight from Bangkok. Meet & greet by the local guide and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon see the tomb of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal Emperor, who died in exile in Rangoon. Later, visit the 2,500 years old magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda sheathed in 11 tons of pure gold and 4,350 diamonds weighing 1800 carats! At sunset, the Shwedagon offers a spectacular show of lights & shadows. . Overnight stay.

 

Breakfast. Full day sight-seeing in Yangon including Sule Pagoda, Maha Bandoola Park with Independence Monument, located in the heart of the city, Chaukhtatgyi reclining Buddha image etc. In the afternoon, visit the Bayoke Market for some bargain shopping of rubies, handicrafts, silk etc. Dinner at Karaweik restaurant with a cultural show to introduce you to the culture & music of Myanmar. Overnight stay.

 

After early breakfast, transfer to the airport for morning flight to Bagan. On arrival at Bagan, transfer to the hotel. Later, start Bagan sight-seeing by a visit Shwezigon Pagoda a prototype of later Myanmar stupa. Then to Wetkyi-in Gubyaukkyi Temple with its fine mural paintings of Jataka scenes. In the afternoon, visit Manuha Temple with gigantic Buddha images, a captive king's impression of life in prison, Nanpaya, an early-style temple with the finest stone carvings. Later, visit the Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece resembling a Greek Cross. Dinner in a local restaurant .Overnight at the hotel in Bagan. (Note: In Bagan there are over 3000 temples & stupas. Hence, it is indeed difficult to cover all of them within the limited time. Therefore we have selected only the major temples in order to avoid a very hectic tour)

 

Breakfast. Sightseeing begins with Shwe Gukyi temple to see the panoramic beauty of old Bagan area. Then visit the highest temple of Bagan “Thatbyinnyu, followed by Dhammayangyi, a massive temple with the finest brickwork. Then the last temple will be Sulamuni temple where you can see fine frescos from 18th century Kone Baung era, with an interesting background history Return to the hotel to relax for a while. Later, visit Lay Myathna and Phaya Thonezu Temple and take a stroll amongst the ruins of the temple and view the glorious sunset from the Tayoke Pyay Temple . Dinner at Nandas restaurant(with a puppet show). Overnight at the hotel.

 

After early breakfast, transfer to airport for flight to Mandalay at 0800 hrs. On arrival at the Mandalay Airport at 0830 hrs, proceed to see the famous Mahamuni Pagoda, one of the most sacred Buddha image in Mandalay. Continue to your hotel for check-in at hotel. After lunch at a local restaurant, relax in the hotel for a while. Later, visit Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the World’s Biggest Book for its one stone slab for each page of Buddhist scripture. In the evening, visit Mandalay Hill, to get a panoramic view of the city and see a spectacular sunset. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

 

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the morning flight to Heho . On arrival, drive to Nyaung Shwe for check-in at the Inle Lake resort. In the late afternoon, go for a short boat excursion in Inle Lake to get a feel of the life on the lake and to see the unique leg-rowers, fishing canoes using special methods for fishing & collecting seaweed etc to make floating gardens. Then, visit the Nga Pe Chaung (Jumping Cat) monastery. Return to the resort. Evening free. Dinner and overnight at the resort in Inle lake.

 

After early breakfast, drive to the small town Pindaya, 48 km north of Kalaw, to visit Pindaya Lake & Pindaya cave, well-known for its countless Buddha images. Enjoy the great scenic beauty of the countryside along the road to Pindaya through picturesque landscapes. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive back to the Inle Lake resort . Evening free. Dinner and overnight.

 

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the morning flight to Bangkok. Tour ends.
